The Academy of Theatrical Combat NYC has teamed up with SAGA Action Arts to create a NEW training opportunity for action actors looking to get an intense, fun, and major skill-set evolving experience. This course will help you keep up with the action genre industry standards, and truly bring out your own unique brand of Action Hero potential!
WHAT IS THE ACTION HERO INTENSIVE?
The Action Hero Intensive will consist of a 3-month collaborative training experience, focusing on multiple disciplines of action acting specifically designed for film and television, with the intensive culminating in students performing a choreographed fight on-camera.
In fact, students will be on camera MULTIPLE times throughout the program so you can best see yourself develop and learn from this high-performance training environment.
WHAT SKILLS ARE TAUGHT IN THE COURSE?
HOLLYWOOD STYLE SWORD FIGHTING
Featuring training in Cutlass, Broadsword, and more! – This is a highly developed and industry-proven curriculum as taught by ATC and some of Hollywood’s leading swordfight designers, choreographers, and coaches!
KALI STICK & KNIFE FIGHTING
The SAGA weapons system draws from various styles of Filipino Martial Arts. Learn the combat style that has taken the industry by storm in films/tv shows such as Dune, Arrow, Deadpool, and the Jason Bourne franchise.
Brawling makes up the majority of violence in film and serves as a foundation for all other styles of film fighting. Our brawling curriculum focuses on giving students the tools necessary to ensure any fight they perform is safe AND look great on camera.
Learn to get around on the ground – SAFELY! Upgrade your ability not just to fight, but take the hits that will make your character’s journey that much more dramatic.
MARTIAL ARTS & KICKBOXING FOR PERFORMERS
Improve your action adaptability and get your blood pumping with drills from a variety of martial arts styles.
Build dynamic strength, flexibility, agility, and mobility that will add real flair to your action performance.
These topics, and more, will be taught to you over the course of this 13 week intensive. With action films and tv shows taking over the entertainment industry, it has never been a more exciting time to be training as an action actor.
