To honor and remember.
The Michael Johnston Scholarship has been created to honor Academy member Michael Johnston, who was taken from us on January 5, 2018. He had been training with us for three years. When Michael began training with the Academy, he was one of those students who had a long way to go from the start. So many body issues and detrimental movement habits that it seemed like he would never figure the movement out. But he had an amazing attitude. Dan Speaker recalls, "I would give him correction and he would just laugh at me." But Michael would take the correction. And he would work. He would improve and he would work some more. He stayed with his training. He was focused. Michael was a great example of dedication and tenacity when it came to learning everything we teach here at the Academy of Theatrical Combat. We will never forget him.
The Michael Johnston Scholarship is six months of tuition-free training at the Academy of Theatrical Combat.
- Applicants must be currently training at the Academy of Theatrical Combat and have completed and passed all fight exams for Basics Level 1.
